What are preserved flowers? Are they real flowers?
Preserved flowers are actually real flowers that undergo a special preservation process to maintain their natural appearance and texture for an extended period. Colour dyes are typically added during the preservation process to achieve a variety of vibrant coloured flowers.
How long can preserved flowers last?
Preserved flowers can last for months or even years, depending on the environment they are kept in and how they are cared for. The colours will usually fade off and lighten as time goes by.
How to care for preserved flowers to prolong their lifespan?
Preserved flowers do not need water at all! Keep them away from direct sunlight, excessive heat, and high humidity can help prolong their lifespan. Additionally, gentle handling and occasional dusting can also help in keeping them looking fresh for longer.
What to do if moulds start appearing on the preserved flowers?
In environments like Singapore where humidity is very high, moulds can grow easily on the preserved flowers due to the moisture contained within them. If you spot moulds appearing, use a soft brush or dry cloth to gently remove them from the surface of the preserved flowers. After cleaning, place them in a sealed box with dehumidifier beads or silica gel for 2 - 3 days. This helps to absorb the moisture from the preserved flowers and prevent moulds from growing. If the moulds have spread extensively on some flowers, it might be best to discard them to prevent further contamination to the other flowers.
